1.Monopotassium Phosphate (MKP) introduction
Monopotassium phosphate (MKP) (also, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, KDP, or monobasic potassium phosphate) is the inorganic compound with the formula KH2PO4. The major use of MKP as flow:
a.Agricultural Applications: As an efficient source of phosphorus and potassium, potassium dihydrogen phosphate is essential in agricultural production. It promotes the development of crop root systems, flower bud differentiation, fruit enlargement, and enhances the resistance and disease resistance of crops, thereby increasing yield and improving quality. It can be used at various stages of crop growth, including after transplanting, before flowering, to control excessive growth, and to prevent pests and diseases.
b.Industrial Applications: In industry, potassium dihydrogen phosphate serves as a buffering agent and a culture medium. It is used in the preparation of bacterial culture media, yeast culture media, the synthesis of metaphosphoric acid potassium, and as a flavor enhancer in sake production. Additionally, it functions as a fortifier, leavening agent, and fermentation aid in the brewing industry.
c.Pharmaceutical Applications: Potassium dihydrogen phosphate has specific uses in the pharmaceutical industry as well. It can act as an analytical reagent and a pH buffer, used in the preparation of buffer solutions and in experiments to determine inorganic phosphorus in serum and the activity of alkaline phosphatase.
d.Food Industry: In the food industry, potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be used as a food additive to improve the quality and stability of food products.

2. Process description of Monopotassium Phosphate (MKP) fertilizer plant
Current, more than 90% MKP was produced by neutralization process. The raw material is KOH & H3PO4. This process has characteristics of low investment, high product quality, and high production cost. Since the raw material KOH price is high, the production cost is high.
CBETC developed extraction process for MKP production, use raw materials KCl and H3PO4. Compared to neutralization process, extraction process has characteristics of high product quality and low production cost. This process include extraction, washing and back extraction. A: The raw materials used to produce MKP by extraction process are KCl, H3PO4 and NH3. The production cost is lower than neutralization process which use KOH and H3PO4 as raw materials.
